COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus Water Works announced on Friday that maintenance on sanitary sewer lines will begin Monday, Nov. 7 and could cause delays in traffic on a major thoroughfare.

Here is the release, detailing the work that begins next week:

Columbus Water Works’ contractor, Layne Liner, LLC will be relining sanitary sewer lines at the intersection of Manchester Expressway and Earline Avenue.

CWW will be utilizing a rehabilitation process called Cured-In-Place lining. This is a process of placing a cement-like substance designed to coat the interior walls of the sewer line, thereby extending the useful life of the line.

Preparation work will begin on Monday, Nov. 7 with the lining work to begin Wednesday, Nov. 9 between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

During these hours, eastbound traffic on Manchester Expressway and northbound traffic along Earline Avenue will be limited to one lane.

Security barriers, lighting, and signage will be in place to ensure the safety of pedestrians and reduce the disruption of the traffic flow. Pending any unforeseen emergencies or weather delays, work is expected to be completed by Friday, Nov. 11.

Columbus Water Works employs many maintenance programs, such as this sewer main lining project, to prolong the life and productivity of our infrastructure, facilities and the quality of service provided to our customers.

These rehabilitation projects help extend the life of the city’s wastewater infrastructure and prevent sewer line breaks.
