COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Nearly 50 firefighters from the Columbus Fire Department battled a fire at the Ralston Towers in Uptown Columbus Saturday morning.

The fire happened just before 11 a.m. on the first floor in a vacant apartment at the intersection of 12th St. and 2nd Ave.

All residents were safely evacuated from the building and there were no injuries. One resident was taken to the hospital, but it was not due to the fire.

According to Columbus Fire Captain Daniel Hord, they are working to get residents back in their rooms by the end of the day and do not yet have a cause of the fire.

The Ralston Towers is a retirement and assisted living housing facility.
