Columbus woman celebrates 100th birthday

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - One of Columbus' oldest citizens celebrated a major milestone this weekend.

Charity McGriff was surrounded by family and friends from as far away as Paris to celebrate her 100th birthday and reflect on fond memories.

Mayor Teresa Tomlinson made a proclamation in honor of the special day that was read by one of Charity's nieces.

"Whereas the citizens of Columbus Georgia congratulate Charity McGriff for having reached this milestone in life well lived and appreciated, now therefore I Teresa Tomlinson, Mayor of the City of Columbus, Georgia do hereby proclaim November 6th 2016 a day of celebration for Mrs. Charity McGriff's 100th Birthday."

Family members say Charity is someone who can still remember everything.
