Eufaula man dies following shooting in Opelika at ex-girlfriend's home

OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) – A Eufaula man has passed away following a shooting at his ex-girlfriend's rental property on Monday, Nov. 14.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call around 9:39 p.m. CST. in the 300 block of Lee Road 114  in Opelika.

The caller requested emergency units to respond immediately to a mobile home park in reference to a person being shot.  Deputies and EMS personnel arrived on the scene and discovered 28-year-old Kenneth Williamson lying on the ground in the back yard near the wood line.

Williamson was suffering from gunshot injuries to the chest, back and left arm regions of his body.

Around 11:08 p.m CST.  he was pronounced dead at the scene by a Lee County Deputy Coroner.

This shooting occurred on the rental property of Williamson's ex-girlfriend.  According to witnesses and neighbors, the victim came to the home uninvited and was confronted by two male guests visiting this address.

There were two adult females and two children on the property at the time of the shooting but their identities will not be released at this stage of the investigation.

No one else suffered any injuries in this incident.  Evidence indicates that the shooter used a handgun.

Lee County Sheriff's Office records show only one prior domestic incident report on file associated with this residence in October of 2016.  This case is being investigated as a homicide and is an on-going investigation.
