COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A new lawsuit claims Recorder's Court in Columbus is illegally jailing people and then making it impossible to challenge their convictions.
The Southern Center for Human Rights filed the lawsuit last week on behalf of two female inmates.
According to the inmates, they are being denied access to their records if they want to challenge their convictions and probation revocations.
The Columbus city government, mayor, and court officials are named in the suit.
City attorney Clifton Fay says his office is reviewing the suit and promised a vigorous defense
