COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Democratic Candidate for Muscogee County Sheriff Donna Tompkins held a news conference at the Citizen's Service center in Columbus.
Sheriff Mark Lajoye and Robert Smith both stood at Tompkins' side to put their support behind her.
Tompkins says the backing of these two shows the community wants a change in the sheriff's office.
"In a bipartisan effort, I am very honored to have the endorsements of these two men who care very much about this community and the fair and effective management of the sheriff's office," Tompkins said.
Both Tompkins and Muscogee County Sheriff John Darr received the majority of the vote on election day, but neither received enough votes to claim victory.
The runoff with be on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
