COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – A Columbus man is one of 31 people arrested in a child exploitation operation across Alabama and Georgia.
Kerry Williams, age 56 of Columbus, was arrested on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of children.
Williams' arrest was part of Operation Southern Impact, which targeted those who exploited children by using the internet.
Williams made his preliminary appearance in Recorders Court on Nov. 10. Williams remains in jail as his case was bound over to Superior Court with a total of $18,000 bond.
Over the course of the operation, 162 digital devices were examined and 731 digital media and devices were seized as evidence in Georgia and Alabama.
Additional arrests are expected to be made in this operation.
