COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Damascus Way is helping make sure those who are sick or shut-in around the valley have a happy Thanksgiving.
On Thursday, the shelter for women and children is sending out more than 500 meals for the Meals on Wheels program.
It was a good turnout of volunteers as they used their Thanksgiving to take the meals around to individual homes.
Volunteers say no one should be left without a good meal to eat for the holiday.
"It is just a wonderful experience to give back," said volunteer Doug McLoud. "We have a wonderful city of Columbus for places that give food to the less fortunate. There is no reason for anybody in Columbus GA to go hungry."
This event has been a tradition in Columbus for more than 25 years.
Damascus Way will also serve meals on Christmas morning.
