Man accused in 2006 child molestation case appears in court

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A man accused of sexually abusing a child a decade ago in Columbus made his first court appearance Thursday. 

John C. Evans Jr., 65, appeared in court for the first time on those charges. He was charged with rape, aggravated child molestation, child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes, and incest. The charges date back to 2006.        

He was arrested Tuesday in Bibb County Georgia near Macon. 

He was given no bond for the charges of aggravated child molestation and rape. He was given a total of $50,000 bond on the charges of child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes.
