COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – 'Tis the season to give and the Salvation Army is counting on that with its Red Kettle Campaign.
There are 35 locations across Columbus and Phenix City with bell ringers ready to accept money in the red kettles.
The Salvation Army could use even more volunteer ringers to help reach its goal of $160,000 this year.
"The bell ringers are so important to the Red Kettle Campaign because it helps us support our programs at Christmas and throughout the year. It's a big part of our budget and helps us do things like our afterschool program, our emergency shelter, utility assistance, clothing assistance also during the Christmas season giving toys to kids at Christmas time," said Capt. Josh Hinson, Commanding Officer of the Salvation Army.
The red kettle campaign started the Friday before Thanksgiving and runs through Christmas Eve.
