Opelika football player honored for volunteer work

OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - Monday was an award-winning afternoon for one Opelika Bulldog.

Offensive lineman Rakavius Chambers received the "Service Above Self" award from the Montgomery Rotary.

It's given to those who dedicate their time and talent to helping the community.

Chambers was appreciative to win the award.

"It means that they're identifying service in the community and service that others are actually doing in their community," Chambers said. "I just feel this award is an amazing honor and that I'm so glad that I'm the recipient of the award."

Up next for Chambers is the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game in Montgomery this Saturday.

He joins teammate Caleb Florience and Central running back Jaxton Carson.
