JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

For seven straight years he’s led the Pinson Valley football team to the playoffs, but Matt Glover tells us that he has been dismissed as the team’s head coach.

Glover says he was informed on Monday by school principal Michael Turner than his services will no longer be needed.

After coaching the Moody Blue Devils, Matt Glover took the head coaching job at Pinson Valley eight years ago. The Indians went 8-4 in 2016 and lost to Austin in four overtimes in the second round of the playoffs. Glover’s overall Pinson Valley record is 50-41.

Why the dismissal?

"I was told by Michael (Turner) that he wanted to go in a different direction, and I respect his decision. He has done a fine job as principal here and he’s the man in charge," Glover said.

We asked Glover about how the Indians players have taken the news.

“I told them that sometimes in life you have to get back up after hearing bad news, dust yourself off and get back at it. That’s life," Glover said.

The 43-year-old Glover says he appreciates his time spent at Pinson and hopes to land on his feet soon.
