COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Members of the International Ministerial Alliance took the time to thank the Columbus Police Department for all they do.
They hosted the event to especially thank the police for the work in the investigation of Peggy Gamble's death.
Gamble, age 83, was found dead in her home, and Angelo Short was arrested and charged with murder.
One of the things stressed at the news conference Friday morning is it will take the entire community to help stop the violence and crime.
"The Columbus Police Department has brought most of these cases to a quick resolution and making our community safer and we are here to encourage the Columbus Police Department and to offer our assistance," said Ralph Huling, President of the International Ministerial Alliance.
IMA is trying to create a way for at-risk students to keep them out of trouble. The program is called the Y-Step summer program for those ages 10-16.
