COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - It's been a fancy few nights at a local theater, where a high school student is playing a key role - off stage.
Family Theatre in Columbus is presenting the play "Fancy Nancy Splendiferous Christmas" this month and the director is teen Katie Gaylor, who is being mentored as part of her senior project.
In the story, Fancy Nancy struggles to find the right Christmas tree, but she learns that decorations and the perfect tree are not what Christmas is about.
Gaylor, who's done lighting and been a lead actress in various Family Theatre shows, says being the director is very rewarding.
"It is a very happy show, which is always nice to have, and it is again helpful to get into the Christmas spirit. And it teaches about the true meaning of Christmas, about the importance of friends and family and prioritizing all of that," first-time director Gaylor said.
You can still go see the Fancy Nancy Christmas play Saturday night, or the shows December 15-17, all at 7:30PM at Family Theatre inside Rose Hill Baptist Church off Hamilton Road. Reservations are strongly recommended, which you can make by clicking here or by calling 706-366-7196.
