PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) – Phenix City police arrested Russell Cope, 27, and Chaquetta Farmer, 31, of Phenix City in connection to a shooting from Dec. 2.

According to police, Farmer reported her car stolen in Phenix City, and at 10:50 p.m. a call came in regarding a shooting in the 1000 block of Fontaine Road.

The car that was stolen, a Toyota Avalon, was found at the scene unoccupied. Ricky Robinson, 55, who was not involved, of Phenix City was shot in the 1000 block of Fontaine Road.

An investigation revealed that Cope, Farmer’s boyfriend, saw the car and got involved in a pursuit of the car.

The car wrecked and two males ran from him and Cope chased him with his gun.

Two thieves ran away and Cope shot Robinson. Robinson was taken to Midtown Medical Center for treatment and taken to Grady Hospital in Atlanta.

Robinson was released on Monday and is now back at home.

Cope was charged with attempted murder and Farmer was charged with hindering investigators.

They have both bonded out of jail.
