COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Fraternal Order of Police helped make Christmas special for some kids in the Valley by holding their 48th annual Cops, Kids, and Christmas program.
Children referred by an officer met at the Columbus Civic Center Ice Rink.
The kids were able to have a little fun with the lights and sirens before heading to Walmart to go shopping for Christmas presents.
The goal of the event is to help make a child and officer's Christmas a little bit brighter.
"This time of the year helps remind everybody that we're all in this together, we're all brothers and sisters and it gives the men and women who take the oath to serve and protect the opportunity to show just how much they care about their community and this is a much greater blessing," Randy Robertson, president of the Fraternal Order of Police.
There were hundreds of children in attendance at this year's event.
