COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus police are investigating after multiple shots were fired into a residence over the weekend.

The incident took place Saturday, Dec. 17 between 11:10 – 11:18 p.m. in the 2300 block of North Andrews Circle.

Officials said the victim was sleeping on her couch when she heard five gunshots outside of her residence and saw bullets coming through her living room window.

Investigators discovered five bullet holes in the front of the residence – two through the window and into couch right above where she was sleeping, and three through the wall. Only one of the bullets that entered the exterior wall passed through it.

The victim also said her three children were sleeping in the back rooms of the house and were unharmed.

Police were also dispatched to the same area at 11:19 p.m. that night reference to shots fired, but were unable to locate a suspect.

Five 9mm shell casings were located in the street in front of the residence. Two of those were Blazer 9mm Luger shell casings, and the remaining three were 9mm Luger shell casings by an unknown brand with diamond markings.

No further information is available at this time. If you know anything about this incident that could help police make an arrest, you can leave an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers here or call (706) 653-3188.
