One of America’s most popular foods is celebrated annually on Feb. 9. Today is National Pizza Pie Day.

The first pizzeria opened in Naples, Italy in 1738. In 1895 Gennaro Lombardi, the first pizzeria in the United States opened in New York City.

Over 3 billion pizzas are sold in the U.S. each year, with Americans consuming on average 23 pounds per person each year.

Many choose to observe the appetizing day by throwing pizza parties, while pizza chains sometimes treat guests to awesome deals.

Whether you prefer pepperoni, veggies, or simply cheese, there are several ways to show appreciation for the beloved food.

What's your favorite pizza?
