COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Pratt and Whitney's announcement this week that it's bringing 500 new jobs to Columbus also means a major boost for Columbus Technical College.

The school will offer courses to train workers in the areas of aerospace mechanics and advanced manufacturing technologies as Pratt and Whitney undergoes a $386 million expansion at its Columbus facility.

Local business leaders joined Pratt and Whitney officials on the campus of Columbus Tech to celebrate the expansion news and Columbus Tech's role in the project.

The aerospace company is already beginning the process of hiring for those 500 positions and they tell us there will be several career fairs scheduled in the coming weeks.
