Alabama Severe Weather Awareness Week

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Alabama's Severe Weather Preparedness Week begins Monday.

During the week all Alabama citizens are encouraged to learn more about local threats, prepare for unexpected events, and practice emergency response procedures for all types of weather.

To get residents ready, Storm Team 9, the Alabama Emergency Management Agency and the NWS are urging people to take one or two simple actions each day. Storm Team 9 will also discuss each day’s topic on-air and online.

This week’s agenda includes a different topic daily to prepare you and your family for when severe weather strikes.

  • MONDAY: Severe Thunderstorms
  • TUESDAY: Flooding and Flash Flooding
  • WEDNESDAY: Tornadoes
  • THURSDAY; Lightning
  • FRIDAY: Receiving Weather Alerts
