PLAINS, GA (WTVM) - Former President Jimmy Carter and First lady Rosalynn Carter celebrated Presidents Day by visiting the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site in Plains, GA.
They shared their personal experiences of the historic peace treaty between Israel and Egypt that was signed during the Carter administration.
Students from Columbus State University and Georgia South Western State University were at the event.
President Carter answered a question from one student about America's current immigration policy.
"This is one of the reasons why America has been a strong and resilient country and be able to overcome our handicaps and repair our mistakes, because we are filled with people whose ancestors were pioneers," President Carter said.
Following the ceremony, President Carter and the First Lady signed books the two authored.
