Auburn man arrested for theft, credit card fraud

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) – Auburn police have arrested a man for theft and credit card theft.

On Monday, Feb.  20, 2017, 32-year-old David W. White, from Auburn was arrested on warrants charging him with unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, theft of property in the third degree and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card.

The arrest is the result of an investigation into an auto burglary that occurred on Jan. 6 in the 100 Block of Maple Street.

According to the victim, someone unlawfully entered his unlocked 2008 Pontiac G6, while it was parked at his residence and stole credit cards and various electronics valued over $500.   

Further investigation by Auburn Police resulted in White being developed as a suspect. He was captured on video surveillance shortly after the auto burglary using the stolen credit cards at two businesses on N. Dean Road. 

He was identified and detectives obtained warrants for his arrest charging him with unlawful breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, theft of property in the third degree and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card.

On Monday he was located at a business in Opelika by an OPD Officer, taken into custody and subsequently transported to the Auburn Police Division.

White was taken to the Lee County Jail where he is being held on an $8,000 bond.
