COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Two suspects have been arrested in connection to a carjacking last November.
William Bernard Harris, 20, and Desmond Typre Mitchell, 20, are both charged with hijacking of a motor vehicle, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
The incident happened on Saturday, Nov. 19 at about 7:43 p.m. Columbus police say a 46-year-old man was stopped at the intersection of 33rd Street and Hamilton Road when he was pulled from his vehicle by two black male suspects.
The suspects beat him on the head with a pistol, robbed him of his phone and wallet, and shot him in the left hand. They then left him on the ground and stole his vehicle.
Harris was apprehended on Wednesday, Jan. 18 in the Wilson Apartments area. He has already been to Recorder's Court and is awaiting trial in Superior Court.
Mitchell was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at a residence on Hickory Avenue. He is scheduled to appear in Recorder's Court on Friday, Feb. 24 9 a.m.
