OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - Brian Blackmon is officially resigning as head football coach and athletic director at Opelika High School.
After 21 years as a football coach at Opelika and eight years as head football coach, Blackmon is moving to the next level. Blackmon has accepted the Offensive Analyst job at Auburn University, according to a post by Opelika Bulldog Football's Facebook page.
"We are very proud of the tradition of excellent head coaches at Opelika High School," said Dr. Mark Neighbors, Opelika City Schools Superintendent. "Over the past 21 years, Coach Blackmon has been a major factor in the success of our football program. His focus on building character among his players has been a priority and has had an extremely positive impact on our program. We wish Coach Blackmon the best in his new position,"
The head football coach position at Opelika High School will be posted soon and the search process will begin immediately.
