Project LAUNCH Georgia to host literacy event in March

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Project LAUNCH Georgia is hosting Let's Read Muscogee in honor of Read Across America Day, a reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2. Project LAUNCH Georgia will organize the literacy event at 23 child-serving institutions.

March 2 is also the birthday of the beloved children's author, Dr. Seuss. The National Education Association (NEA) calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on the author's birthday.

Each child will receive an age-appropriate book. Infants and toddlers will receive "Talk with Me Baby," and children ages three to eight will receive Kaplans Books, which focus on social and emotional topics.

Community volunteers will read to children at one of several locations. Employees from Midtown Medical, Babies Can't Wait, Columbus Pediatric Association, New Horizons, and more will also assist with the event.
