COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Columbus woman arrested for the deadly accident that killed two kids in her family, including her daughter, made her first court appearance Monday.
Francisca Taperia-Santiago, 32, pleaded not guilty in Recorder's Court.
Santiago was driving the Chevy Trailblazer when the accident happened on Saturday, Feb. 25 on Victory Drive.
Her daughter, 6-year-old Juliana Taperia and her nephew, 13-year-old Jose Taperia, were in the SUV when it hit a guardrail and landed upside down.
None of the children were wearing seatbelts when the accident happened.
Santiago faces several charges including vehicular homicide, reckless conduct and no child restraint.
Her case now goes to Superior Court. We will continue following this story and update it as more information becomes available.
