COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The newest restaurant in Uptown Columbus opened to a limited audience.

River and Rail located in the 1200 block of Broadway hosted a VIP opening on Monday night.

Owners Frank and Leah Folley moved from California back to Columbus and say they wanted to bring a bit of the flavor of the west coast.

The name comes from the owner wanting to recognize the city of Columbus because they think the rail system here and the river contributed to some of the area's success.

They say their goal is to have people come in weekly.

"We're trying to bring a new look, a fresh look, something a little outside the box, whether that's from our food, our décor, our atmosphere, all the way from our bar, our drinks and our service," said executive chef and owner Bradley Andrews.

"It's been a long process coming, about a year or year and a half,” added Leah. “My husband and I moved from Los Angeles to his hometown of Columbus to bring a little bit of the west coast flare to Columbus, Georgia."

The official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony event start at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
