COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the Welding Lab Grand Opening at Columbus Tech.
The school was awarded a $1.3 million grant to renovate the welding lab, originally built in 1978.
The lab now has new welding booths, new welding machines, new electrical wiring and a host of new machinery.
The total price tag reached $1.69 million, but the welding program director says he is very impressed with the new lab.
"I could not be any happier. It's the nicest one I have ever seen and I could not be any happier with it," said welding program director Ronnie McBride.
Thanks to the new facility, Columbus Tech can offer more classes and 32 additional students per semester.
