COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The Executive Director of the Columbus Convention and Trade Center has resigned.
David Bevans announced his resignation Friday afternoon in a board meeting. Bevans held the position for nearly 5 years.
The Columbus Convention and Trade Center voted to appoint assistant director Hayley Henderson to assume the duties of Executive Director until a permanent replacement can be found.
No timetable was given as to how long it will take to find a new Executive Director.
After thanking his fellow board members, Bevans says he also enjoyed working with Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson and city manager Isaiah Hughley.
"This has been a city that I have felt most connected to. There are great people here and that is the one thing I am going miss," said David Bevans.
His resignation comes as Bevans wants to find a job that is closer to his family in North Carolina.
