Auburn man dies from gunshot wound in Dean Rd apartment

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

The Auburn Police Department is investigating after a man died inside his apartment complex from a gunshot wound. 

Officials say 26-year-old Herman Cornelius “Ce-Ce” Lane was found unresponsive inside his apartment in the 400 block of North Dean Road on Saturday, March 4 at about 7:20 p.m. CDT. 

Lane was treated by paramedics, but died on the scene as a result of his injuries and was pronounced deceased by Lee County Coroner Bill Harris at 7:45 p.m.

When a family member of his could not reach him by phone, they went to his apartment and found him and called 911.  Lane was last known to be alive around 3 p.m. on Saturday.

His body was taken to the Alabama Dept. of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for a postmortem examination. 

The homicide investigation is still ongoing by the Lee County Coroner’s Office, the Auburn Police, and the Alabama Dept. of Forensic Sciences.
