Historic Columbus hosts part 3 of lecture series

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Historic Columbus held the third part of its 2017 Lunch and Lecture series on Thursday.

The meeting at the Elizabeth Bradley Turner Center featured Columbus State Archivist David Owings as the guest speaker, and the topic was "Learning About Your Historic House."

Owings says the CSU Archive Department can be a great resource for those looking into the background of a historic home.

"We have lots of old maps," Owings said. "We have architect drawings and blueprints. We have city directories."

Owings also says researching an old home can give you an idea of how much it will cost to renovate it.

The next lecture series will take place April 13, with the topic "Growing up in the Waverly Terrace."
