LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) – The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate bar fights that resulted in a shooting and stabbing.

Lee County deputies received 911 calls around 3 a.m. Saturday to the Rhythm and Blues Club at 9857 US Hwy. 29N in Valley in reference to a shooting.

On scene, deputies found a 26-year-old man from Opelika on the floor who had been shot in the hip.

The man was transported to the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika where he is expected to recover from his injuries.

According to witnesses, the victim and another man got into an argument and the suspect pulled out a gun and began shooting.

Then at 3:20 a.m. Saturday morning, deputies received calls about a disturbance at the Del Ranch Bar and Grill at 4920 Lee Rd. 430 near Smiths Station.

On scene, deputies saw a 37-year-old man from Hatchechubbee on the floor with stab wounds from being hit with a glass bottle in the head and neck.

He was transported to Midtown Medical Center in Columbus and is expected to recover.

According to witnesses, the males approached the victim and hit him in the head with a glass bottle and stabbed him in the neck with broken glass. Another male pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the man’s head.

Both suspects, in this case, fled the scene prior to deputies arriving.

The incident at the Rhythm and Blues Club follows a previous assault at the club on Feb. 27, where one victim was shot and another was hit in the head with a glass bottle during a fight.

All of these cases are being investigated and anyone with information is being asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 334-749-5651 or Lee County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-522-7847.
