Weekend Recap: Terrorist threat targets Baker High School

This is a part of the daily crime report distributed by the Mobile Police Department. These crimes occurred March 10 and 13, 2017.

Fugitive From Justice Possession of Controlled Substance, Manufacturing Meth, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia                                      

On Friday, March 10, 2017 at approximately 2:30 p.m. a search warrant was obtained in reference to an Internet Crimes Against Children case involving the Florida Law Enforcement Agency. Offender 40-year-old Brian Donald, a resident of Mobile at the 6200 block of Carol Plantation Rd, initiated contact with an undercover agent posing as a 13-year-old female whom he was enticing for sexual purposes. While officers were executing the warrant, they discovered an active meth lab, numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia, and four loaded syringes. Donald was arrested on the warrant and drug charges.

Bomb Threat

On Friday, March 10, 2017 at approximately 1 p.m. officers were dispatched to Wal-Mart, 101 East I-65 Service Road South, in reference to the business receiving three phone calls from an unknown subject stating there was a bomb in the store. Wal-Mart was evacuated. The Bomb Squad and Assault units responded to the scene. A sweep of the building was negative. The Bomb Squad cleared the building and employees and customers were allowed back into the store. This case is still under investigation to determine what number made the bomb threat.

Assault 2nd

On Friday, March 10, 2017 at approximately 2:31 p.m. officers responded to a local hospital in reference to one shot. The 20-year-old victim stated that while he was standing in front of his residence at the 100 block of N Hallett Street he heard shooting and started to run.  As he was running he was shot in the stomach. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.   

Terrorist Threat

On Saturday, March 11, 2017 officers received several calls referencing a terrorist threat made on social media targeting Baker High School. Officers were shown images of a social media post containing a picture of a hand grenade clutched in a hand, and superimposed over the picture was writing of threats. Officers of the Cyber Intelligence Unit were able to identify the suspect who initially posted the photo. The 17-year-old male juvenile was arrested and taken to Strickland Youth Center.

Felony LSA

On Saturday, March 11, 2017 at approximately 1:33 a.m. officers responded to St. Stephens Road at St. Charles Street. The victim told officers he was leaving the Soul House Lounge walking across St. Stephens Road when a vehicle struck him. The victim was transported to the hospital and treated for his minor injuries.

Assault 2nd

On Saturday, March 11, 2017 at approximately 5:57 p.m. officers responded to one shot at the 1300 block of Congress Street and Cuba Street. When officers arrived they did not find a crime scene or the victim. Officers were later informed that the 21-year-old victim had been transported to the hospital by personal vehicle. The victim stated an unknown subject approached him with a hand gun. He ran away but was struck by the gunfire. The victim’s injuries were non-life threatening.

Receiving Stolen Property 1st

On Saturday, March 11, 2017 at approximately 3:09 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of N. Riviera Drive in reference to a stolen vehicle out of Prichard that happened on March 10, 2017 at that location. Jeromy Fanty, 29, was arrested.

Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling

On Saturday, March 11, 2017 at approximately 7:00 p.m. officers responded to a report of a large fight in the parking lot of Pump It Up, 741 Hillcrest Road. The manager advised officers that the suspects were firing shots at each other. One round traveled through a large window. At this time there appears to be at least two shooters. Further investigation continues to identify suspects.

Assault 2nd Shooting into Occupied Dwelling & Vehicle

On Sunday, March 12, 2017 at approximately 6:49 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Victory Court for a shots fired complaint. Upon arrival, officers were advised that the 23-year-old victim was taken to the hospital by private vehicle. The victim had a gunshot wound to the hand. Several vehicles and the residence were struck by bullets.

Robbery 1st

On Sunday, March 12, 2017 at approximately 6:55 p.m. officers responded to a report of an individual robbery at Green Park Trailer Park, 90 Green Park Drive. The 17-year-old victim stated she was walking home from the basketball court when a suspect exited a vehicle parked on the side of the road and demanded her property.

No Pistol Permit

On Monday, March 13, 2017 at approximately 10:53 p.m. while officers were patrolling in the area of Arlington Park they observed 23-year-old Vondarial Lewis in the park after dark and found him in possession of a pistol with no permit. Lewis was arrested.

Robbery 1st

On Monday, March 13, 2017 at approximately 12:13 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Cedar Crescent Drive for a robbery complaint. The 40-year-old victim stated three male subjects approached him and told him to “give it up”. Two of the subjects were armed with handguns.

Robbery 1st

On Monday, March 13, 2017 at approximately 4:18 a.m. officers responded to a report of a commercial robbery at Clark Station located at 3606 Moffett Road. The victim advised officers that an unknown male entered the business armed with a pistol and demanded money from the register and Newport cigarettes. The suspect fled the scene on foot.
