COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Cherokee Avenue will be limited to one lane beginning March 15 due to an ongoing maintenance project by the Columbus Water Works. The work is expected to be completed by April 7.
The project is to prevent backups and overflows in the sewer systems by removing tree roots from sanitary sewer lines. Pumping equipment will remain in place to ensure the reliability of sewer serviced for area customers.
As a safety precaution, some areas near equipment and around the areas of the road closures will give limited or restricted access.
For additional information about the status of the project, follow the Columbus Water Works' Facebook page.
