COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Midtown Medical Center hosted an educational event Wednesday to teach those in attendance about what is called "sepsis."
Sepsis is the presence of harmful bacteria typically through infections in a wound.
Registered nurse Mary Willis and paramedic Shalonda Wright gave a presentation on the issue.
Organizer Pat Harrell says today's workshop is all about passing knowledge along.
"Education is so important that people understand what problems exist and also how to approach these problems," Pat Harrell said, the organizer for the event.
The free event took place at the Central Activities Center on 14th Street in Phenix City.
