Man charged with attempted murder in Huntsville area shooting

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A man is charged with attempted murder in connection to a Wednesday night shooting in the Huntsville area.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports that the shooting occurred in the 100 block of Harmening Drive at approximately 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Deputies say the adult victim was sitting in a vehicle when someone fired several gunshot rounds into the vehicle. One of the shots struck the victim.

Huntsville police made initial contact with the victim while being transported to the hospital by private car. Police say the driver became lost and requested assistance. HEMSI met the driver and victim near Zierdt Road and transported him to the hospital.

An investigation into the shooting was initiated. The shooter was identified as 26-year-old Kenneth Daniel Holland. He was taken into custody by patrol deputies about an hour later.

Holland was charged with attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle. He is in the Madison County Jail on two separate bonds of $30,000.
