Sen. Perdue releases statement on President Trump's budget blueprint

(WTVM) – U.S. Senator David Perdue, who is also a member of the Budget Committee, commented on President Trump's budget blueprint.

Perdue released the following statement:

Over the past 16 years, government spending exploded from 2.4 trillion to 3.9 trillion in constant dollars. For this $1.5 trillion in new spending, what did the American people get? A debt crisis, a global security crisis, and a government so overgrown that our national priorities were put on the backburner.

Trump's budget proposes to eliminate funding for the following 19 agencies:

  • Appalachian Regional Commission
  • Chemical Safety Board
  • Corporation for National and Community Service
  • Corporation for Public Broadcasting
  • Delta Regional Authority
  • Denali Commission
  • Institute of Museum and Library Services
  • Inter-American Foundation
  • U.S. Trade and Development Agency
  • Legal Services Corporation
  • National Endowment for the Arts
  • National Endowment for the Humanities
  • Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation
  • Northern Border Regional Commission
  • Overseas Private Investment Corporation
  • United States Institute of Peace
  • United States Interagency Council on Homelessness
