COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Columbus chapter of The Links, Incorporated teamed up with the Black Dallas Theater for a special treat to help young dance lovers here in Columbus.
A workshop took place this afternoon at Carver High school to teach techniques of dancing and understanding the discipline of the art.
Students were able to dance on stage with the performers from the theater.
Organizers say the event hopes get the youth off the streets and doing something positive.
"We have invited youth from the community as well as anyone in the community that would like to come and work out with the dance troop and learn techniques as well that would help them if they're interested in the art. This is just an opportunity for young people to get exposure," Olive Vidial-Kendall, President of The Links, Incorporated.
There will be a ball tonight at Carver High School. This program has been running for 4 years, but this is the first time the dancers stopped by Columbus and they say they are hoping to come back for the entire school district.
