VALLEY, AL (WTVM) – The victim in a Valley mobile home fire is continuing to recover in an Atlanta-area hospital.

Eloise Dodson is still in the Wellstar Cobb Hospital in Austell, GA, but according to her children, she was able to open her eyes Sunday morning.

Dodson suffered burns to her face, chest, and arms, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Dodson’s husband, Terrance, was killed in the fire at the Hampton Trailer Park on Chambers County Road 271.

The fire happened around 2:30 a.m. CT Friday.

Witnesses say Mr. Dodson died after he went back inside the home after he believed his son was still inside.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family and funeral arrangements have not been made yet for the father as the body is still in Montgomery for the autopsy.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
