OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - Caleb Ross has been named the new head football coach at Opelika High School.

Coach Ross has been Head Football Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at McGill-Toolen High School in Mobile, AL since 2014.

As head coach at McGill-Toolen, Coach Ross led his team to the 7A State Championship games in both 2015 and 2016.  The 2015 team won the 7A State Championship and the 2016 team finished as 7A State Runner-Up.

Ross began his coaching career in Clinton, MS in 2002.  He then moved to Prattville High School to coach the running backs (2006-2007) and then was named as the Offensive Coordinator (2008-2010).

In 2011, Ross was named head football coach at Thompson High School.  From 2012-2013, Ross was Offensive Coordinator at Spanish Fort High School until taking the Offensive Coordinator/Assistant Head Coach position at McGill-Toolen High School in 2013.

“We are very pleased with the interview process and are extremely humbled by the number of outstanding applicants that were interested in the job. It truly speaks to the quality of our football program,” stated Dr. Mark Neighbors, Opelika City Schools Superintendent. “We feel confident that Coach Ross is the right fit for Opelika.”
