Victim ID'd in Opelika fatal car crash

OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) – The man killed in a single-car crash in Opelika has been identified.

Timothy Golden, 46, was killed in an accident on Veterans Pkwy. near the intersection of Gabby St. at 2:05 p.m. Wednesday.

According to police, Golden's was traveling south on Veterans Pkwy. in a Ford Explorer when the car ran off the road, overcorrected, crossing into the northbound lane and crashing into several trees.

It appears that Golden was not wearing a seatbelt.

The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information on this accident is asked to call Opelika Police at 334-705-5200 or call the secret witness hotline and 334-745-8665.
