Where is all the smoke coming from around the Chattahoochee Valley?

(WTVM) – Folks all across the Chattahoochee Valley are wondering: Where is the smoke coming from?

COLUMBUS/FORT BENNING

In a Facebook post, Fort Benning says they are currently fighting several wildfires burning in the Juliet training areas. The good news is that the wildfires are contained.

The wildfires started from military training exercises.

The smoke from the Fort Benning wildfires is impacting the following areas: Sandhill Cantonment Area, the Custer Road Area, southeast Columbus, and midtown Columbus.

There is also a wildfire along the Upatoi Creek are near the Martin Army Community Hospital. Smoke may settle Thursday night in the Upatoi Creek bottom and travel south towards the hospital.

AUBURN

If you are in Auburn, you may see smoke because of a controlled burn at the ecology preserve at Auburn University.
