FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) – General Manager of our sister station Fox 54, Cristine Couldridge, was the guest speaker of a Fort Benning event held today in honor of women's history month.
The ceremony paid tribute to those women who prevailed over barriers to obtaining equality in America.
Cristine spoke about working in a male-dominated field and how she balances her career with being a mom.
We spoke to a Martin Army Hospital doctor who served 23 years in the military about her struggles as a woman in the Army.
"It seems as though I had to work harder and be smarter to get to the level I needed to get as a leader. So I have always tried to be a mentor no only to my female soldiers that came up under me, but also to the male soldiers as well," said Dr. Helen Prana with Martin Army Hospital.
Cristine, along with soldiers from Martin Army Hospital, was presented awards for their contributions to Women's History Month.
