COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Following a Friday night shooting at Wilson Homes Apartment Complex, we're taking a closer look at other shooting incidents that have happened at the same complex in recent years.

The neighborhood is no stranger to shooting related incidents, already seeing two within the last month.

Apart from the fatal shooting of Maurice McGhee that happened Friday night, a total of 5 people have died from shooting related incidents at the home over the past seven years.

In 2011, two people were shot outside the complex. One of the victims was a pregnant 16-year-old.

Then in 2013, 27-year-old, Derickes Miles, was shot and killed near Wilson apartments at the intersection of 35th street and 6th avenue. Twenty-three-year-old Shakieim Dorsey was later arrested for that murder.

Also that year, 20-year-old, Kristan Dozier, was shot and killed at the same intersection. No arrest was made in that murder.

More recently, in Summer of 2016, 16-year-old, Lakeisha Moses, was fatally shot inside an apartment unit. Eighteen-year-old, Lernard Bonner, was arrested for her death.

Situations that are all far too common for the residents who call Wilson Homes Apartments “home.”

No arrests were made in the Friday night shooting.

You are urged to contact police at (705) 653-3100 if you have any information.
