Sharifa Jackson joined the WTVM News Leader 9 Team in January 2017 as a Multimedia Journalist/Reporter. She's returning to Columbus after spending one year at WTVY in Dothan, Alabama.
Sharifa began her television career at WTVM in Fall of 2014. She was first hired as a News Content Specialist, where she helped with behind-the-scenes show production. She stayed in that position for a year while also exploring all other aspects of the newsroom, from videography, editing, to producing.
Upon graduation from Columbus State University in May 2015, Sharifa was offered a reporter/anchor position at WTVY. During her stay in Dothan, Sharifa covered all types of stories from tornado damage, small town government corruption, and state road problems.
In summer of 2016, Sharifa covered a story about a family in Eufaula, Alabama who met Prince Harry that was picked up by Networks Stations, ABC, NBC, CBS, Good Morning America, and The Today Show.
Sharifa is a lifetime member of Lambda Pi Eta National Communication Honor Society and an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. When she's not at work, Sharifa enjoys traveling, shopping and spending time with family.
She is thrilled to be back in her hometown.
