Northside fends off late Hardaway surge to win 5-4

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A 7th inning rally fell short for the Hardaway Hawks against Northside Tuesday afternoon at Hawks Field.

Down 5-0 heading into the last inning, the Hawks produced four runs but fell short of victory over their region 1-AAAA opponents.

Northside jumped out in front early with three runs in the top of the 1st.

Hardaway held them from scoring anymore until the top of the 6th when the Patriots plated two more runs to take a 5-0 lead.

Hardaway's loss keeps them on the outside looking in at the GHSA playoffs for now. They're 5th in the 1-AAAA standings.

Northside's region title hopes are still alive, as they trail Cairo for the top spot in the area.

Hardaway faces Americus-Sumter on Friday at home while Northside gets Columbus Thursday night at home.
