CPD arrests 2 men in connection to the first homicide of 2017 at 32nd Ave.

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Columbus police have made an arrest in connection with the murder of 22-year-old Dominique Horton.

Dondre Hill, 26, and William Washington, 21, were arrested and charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

On Jan. 5, 2017, around 4 p.m.  Columbus Police Department Patrol Units were called to the 300 block of 32nd Avenue in reference to a shooting.

When officers arrived they discovered Domonique Horton suffering from a gunshot.  

Horton was transported to the Midtown Medical Center ER where he later passed away from the injuries he sustained.

The Homicide Unit was dispatched to the scene and assumed the investigation.

The investigation revealed that a large group of people met in the area to watch two female juveniles fight.  

The physical altercation escalated when a gunfight erupted.  Numerous rounds were discharged.

The gunfight resulted in the death of Dominique Horton.

The preliminary hearing for both will be initially set for Saturday, April 1, 2017, at 9: a.m. in Recorder's Court.

However, William Washington's preliminary hearing is going to be asked to be continued until  Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at 9 a.m. in Recorder's Court.

Dondre Hill's preliminary hearing is going to be asked to be continued until Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at 9a.m.in Recorder's Court.
