Unemployment rate down in Columbus, statewide

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The Georgia Department of Labor says the unemployment rate in Columbus is down slightly.

The jobless rate for February was 6.5 percent, down from 7 percent in January.

So far, more than 100 jobs have been created in the Fountain City in the first quarter.

The unemployment rate for the state of Georgia declined to 5.3 percent in February, as the state set records for employment and labor force.
