COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Sunday night, the Columbus Lions return to the Jungle to host the Georgia Firebirds and some old faces.
Once friends, now foes, four members of the Firebirds used to don the blue and gray of the Lions.
Wide receivers Terrance Ebagua and John Harris are the names that will receive the most attention in Sunday's week three contest. Harris played for
the Lions as recently as last season, and Ebagua last laced up his cleats for Columbus in their 2015 PIFL Championship season.
On defense, Larry Edwards and Roshawn Marshall look to stop a Lions offense that scored more than 80 points a week ago.
John Harris spoke this week about facing his old team, and he had plenty of good things to say about his time in Columbus.
"Normally when you play football against opponents, you dislike them," Harris said. I love those guys so it's going to be crazy, but I'm sure it'll
be fun too."
Even though there are old friends on the team, Harris still has the competitive spirit.
"I most definitely want to whoop them. I want to whoop them so bad I can taste it," Harris said. "That's all I've been thinking about all week, man. Coming off the 'L' last week, just locked in early, I've been watching film on them, I know the personnel. I'm going to be at their face."
The Lions and Firebirds kick off Sunday night at 6 p.m. in the Columbus Civic Center.
