Red Cross responds to the community following severe weather

(WTVM) – After severe weather rolled through West Central Georgia on Monday, Red Cross disaster volunteers are responding quickly to provide emergency assistance and support for families in need.

The Red Cross is working with local officials to respond to community needs as quickly as they are able to access the affected areas in Muscogee and Schley counties.

Red Cross personnel are reaching out to all counties within the path of the storm as it swept across Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia in order to assess damage and any community needs.

People in the affected areas can let friends and relatives know that they are safe by updating their Facebook and other social media accounts or registering on the Red Cross Safe and Well website.

The Red Cross encourages everyone to stay weather aware and be prepared for the second round of severe weather is possible again this week.
